Day Mental Health Services

Anixter Center Day Mental Health Services provides support for individuals with mental illness to recover and function at a higher level, become self-reliant and relate better to the world around them.

In a society where programs for people with mental illness are growing critically scarce, PsychoSocial Rehabilitation Services continues to support this underserved population. PSR realizes that these individuals need life skills, symptom management education, vocational training and social interaction to have a chance at an improved life. The support that PSR delivers provides both a connection to the community and a respite for safety, acceptance and understanding. 

Core services follow a recovery-based model, are delivered in groups or individual sessions, and include:

  • Symptom management, treatment planning and assessment
  • Education and development of:
    • Life skills
    • Self-esteem
    • Independence
    • Wellness
      • Fitness
      • Yoga
      • Music, movement and dance therapy
      • Art therapy
  • Computer training
  • Vocational training
    • Exploration of job opportunities
    • Food service operation
  • Social connections
    • Peer support
    • Community outings and interaction
Special services for deaf and hard of hearing clients include:
  • American Sign Language vocabulary building
  • Deaf and hard of hearing mental health professionals
  • Services delivered in ASL
